\n Simu Liu<\/a> said in a new interview with Collider <\/a>that Robert Downey Jr.<\/a> had a \u201cconvoy of trailers\u201d on the set of \u201cAvengers: Doomsday<\/a>,\u201d which the film\u2019s cast and crew hilariously named \u201cDowney Land.\u201d Liu returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Shang-Chi in the 2026 tentpole opposite Downey as the villainous Doctor Doom. Downey\u2019s return to Marvel as a villain and not in his iconic Iron Man role is fueling the majority of interest in \u201cDoomsday.\u201d It appears the studio pulled out all the stops on set for the Oscar winner\u2019s grand return.<\/p>\n \n \u201cDowney famously has this convoy of trailers and this whole area in base camp that we affectionately called Downey Land,\u201d Liu said. \u201cAnd I remember getting invited to Downey Land for the first time and just showing up in this tent, and it\u2019s all this beautiful Andy Warhol-esque artwork, except all the characters are Downey. I mean, he\u2019s so self-aware.\u201d<\/p>\n \n \u201cSo, he greeted me, and then I didn\u2019t realize that Downey Land has its own chefs, but I had brought my set lunch, and he was like, \u2018Oh, no, no, no. We don\u2019t do that here,\u2019\u201d Liu continued. \u201cThe chefs had come and laid out this full buffet, and I was like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019ll put this away.\u2019 And then just the people walking through, I was like, \u2018I cannot believe I\u2019m having lunch with these people.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \n Liu and Downey are just two members of the sprawling \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d cast, which mixes Marvel stalwarts like Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh and Tom Hiddleston with returning X-Men actors like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn and James Marsden, plus new MCU favorites like Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and a lot more. It\u2019s unclear which actors Liu shares scenes with in the film, but it\u2019s safe to say he was a big admirer of every scene partner.<\/p>\n \n \u201cFor me, it was very imperative that I put that fan side away,\u201d Liu told Collider.<\/a> \u201cI compartmentalized that side of me because I was like, \u2018I have a job to do. I have a job to do, and the worst thing that I can do right now is be a fan. I\u2019m not a fan.
