Focused far more on actual horror, Cronin&#8217;s The Mummy takes its cues from the current tropes of the genre, with a story that seems reminiscent of recent hit Bring Her Back, reinventing the Mummy as a young girl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Here&#8217;s the trailer:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace,&#8221; reads the film&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt32612507\/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_the%2520mummy%25202026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:IMDb;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">IMDb<\/a> logline. &#8220;Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Like I said, there are definite Bring Her Back vibes here, a movie which is all about a desperate mother using forbidden magic to resurrect her daughter. There&#8217;s an Egyptian twist of course, drawing on the much mythologized concept of actual ancient mummies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Lee Cronin&#8217;s The Mummy (the official full title) has no connection to the beloved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/entertainment\/adventure-movies\/the-mummy-4-release-date-cast-plot\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Brendan Fraser\/Rachel Weisz franchise which is also getting a revival;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Brendan Fraser\/Rachel Weisz franchise which is also getting a revival<\/a> in the form of a new sequel. Cronin&#8217;s film is the second attempt to reboot The Mummy with a new horror-focused franchise in the last 10 years, following 2017&#8217;s ill-fated Tom Cruise-starring remake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In both cases, the films call back to the original 1932 version of The Mummy, one of the most well-known Universal horror movies alongside Dracula, the Wolfman, and the Gill-man from The Creature From the Black Lagoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Lee Cronin&#8217;s The Mummy has courted controversy, with producer and veteran horror director <a href=\"https:\/\/fandomwire.com\/the-mummy-reboot-james-wan-walked-out-test-screening\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:James Wan reportedly walking out of an advance screening;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">James Wan reportedly walking out of an advance screening<\/a>.
