American High\u2019s latest movie shot in Syracuse is set to premiere soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cPizza Movie,\u201d starring Gaten Matarazzo<\/a> (\u201cStranger Things\u201d) and Sean Giambrone<\/a> (\u201cThe Goldbergs\u201d), will make its worldwide debut at the SXSW Film & TV Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>. The film is among those in the \u201cNarrative Spotlight\u201d for the March 12-18 event in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n \u201cPizza Movie\u201d follows a group of ccollege students who go downstairs to their dorm lobby to get a delivery pizza. But there\u2019s an issue: They\u2019re insanely high on a home-made drug, turning their simple journey down two sets of stairs into a mind-bendingly transformative quest.<\/p>\n The movie is co-written and co-directed by Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, both known for their work as \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d writers. Producers include Jeremy Garelick, Will Helps and Molle DeBartolo at American High, a Liverpool-based production company.<\/p>\n Scenes were shot in and around Syracuse last spring with a cast that includes Matarazzo, who played Dustin Henderson on Netflix\u2019s \u201cStranger Things<\/a>\u201d; Giambrone, who played the main character Adam Goldberg on TV\u2019s \u201cThe Goldbergs\u201d; Lulu Wilson (\u201cOuija: Origin of Evil,\u201d \u201cAnnabelle: Creation\u201d); Peyton Elizabeth Lee (\u201cAndi Mack\u201d); Sarah Sherman (\u201cSNL\u201d); Jack Martin; Caleb Hearon; Marcus Scribner; Miguel-Andres Garcia; and Justin Cooley.<\/p>\n The movie previously had the working title \u201cThe Untitled BriTANicK Pizza Movie,\u201d but other names were also considered.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter weeks of debating title ideas \u2014 including Pie Hard, Cheese the Day, Mission Impizzable, and several others that should never see the light of day \u2014 SXSW finally forced us to make a decision,” Garelick wrote<\/a> on social media. \u201cHope you\u2019re not lactose intolerant, because THE PIZZA MOVIE is heading to Austin.\u201d<\/p>\n Other movies set to premiere at the SXSW film festival include Boots Riley\u2019s \u201cI Love Boosters\u201d; David E. Kelley\u2019s \u201cMargo\u2019s Got Money Troubles\u201d (starring Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer); \u201cReady or Not 2: Here I Come\u201d; John Carney\u2019s \u201cPower Ballad\u201d; and \u201cFamily Movie,\u201d co-directed by Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon.<\/p>\n \u201cPizza Movie\u201d is expected to be released on Hulu at a later date as part of American High\u2019s deal <\/a>with the streaming service.
