\n Ellen DeGeneres<\/a> shared a rare political statement on social media over the weekend, reflecting on the death<\/a> of Renee Nicole Good<\/a> and the current situation in Minneapolis<\/a>. <\/p>\n \n The comedian and former talk show host posted three clips on Instagram, one of Good, one of her speaking to the camera, and one of protestors in Minneapolis. \u201cHey everybody, I just wanted to say, I am so sorry for what is happening in Minneapolis and our country, really, but specifically Minneapolis right now because that\u2019s where I shot my last stand-up special and everybody there couldn\u2019t have been more lovely,\u201d DeGeneres said. <\/p>\n \n \u201cI shot it there because they say it\u2019s the happiest city in America, and I found that to be true,\u201d she continued. \u201cSo my thoughts and my prayers are going out to everyone, and I\u2019m proud of everyone who\u2019s protesting peacefully, and I am sorry for anyone who has been hurt just for protesting, for doing what you should be doing. When the special was announced, DeGeneres alluded that she\u2019d speak about the controversies she and her beloved\u00a0Ellen<\/em>\u00a0Show<\/em>\u00a0were embroiled in back in 2020. \u201cTo answer the questions everyone is asking me \u2014 Yes, I\u2019m going to talk about it,\u201d she said. \u201cYes this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life.\u201d<\/p>\n \n The comedian\u2019s image took a hit in 2020 following a\u00a0series\u00a0of\u00a0reports\u00a0by BuzzFeed News in which employees at her show alleged racism, sexual misconduct, and intimidation at the hands of executive producers. Three\u00a0producers were fired<\/a>\u00a0because of it, and DeGeneres issued an on-air apology.\u00a0In 2022, singer Greyson Chance, whom DeGeneres signed to her label,\u00a0told\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>\u00a0he had \u201cnever met someone more manipulative, more self-centered, and more blatantly opportunistic.\u201d<\/p>\n \n Since then, DeGeneres relocated to the U.K., citing Donald Trump<\/a> as the main motivation<\/a> for leaving her home country.
