\n Celebrity doctor Peter Attia has resigned from his new contributor position at CBS News following new revelations about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cDr. Attia\u2019s contributor role was newly established and had not yet meaningfully begun,\u201d a spokesperson for Attia said in a statement.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cAs such, he stepped back to ensure his involvement didn\u2019t become a distraction from the important work being done at CBS. He wishes the network and its leadership well and has no further comment at this time.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n In the newly released trove of documents from the Epstein files, Attia and the convicted sex offender exchanged lewd and personal messages with each other.\n <\/p>\n \n For example, Attia had written<\/a> in 2016, \u201cP*ssy is, indeed, low-carb. Still awaiting results on gluten content, though.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n Attia, an influencer specializing in longevity medicine, was one of 19 new contributors<\/a> named in January as part of Bari Weiss\u2019 new strategy for CBS News.\n <\/p>\n \n During a January town hall, Weiss teased the new batch of contributors as \u201cjust the start,\u201d urging the network \u201cto use them move.\u201d Even as Weiss touted the changes before staffers \u2014 her first major move since assuming the reins in October \u2014 the executive signaled the need for the Tiffany Network to change.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cOur strategy until now has been to cling to the audience that remains on broadcast television,\u201d she said at the town hall. \u201cIf we stick to that strategy, we\u2019re toast.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n Even as Attia apologized<\/a> to his team and patients, Weiss appeared inclined to allow the celebrity doctor to remain on as a network contributor.\n <\/p>\n \n He had appeared<\/a> on Weiss\u2019 podcast \u201cHonestly,\u201d before she became head of CBS News. She had said Attia \u201cconsistently cuts through all that noise\u201d in the health and wellness industry.\n <\/p>\n \n CNN has reached out to CBS News for comment.\n <\/p>\n \n Attia\u2019s appearance in the Epstein files garnered fierce backlash from his fans<\/a>. In a statement on X earlier in February, he said he was not involved in any criminal activity and had never been on the financier\u2019s plane, island or his sex parties.
