LOS ANGELES<\/strong> \u2013 KPRC 2 exclusively obtained new court documents from Los Angeles County providing new insight into the grand jury investigation of singer D4vd and prosecutors\u2019 request to compel testimony from his father, Dawud Burke, as a witness.<\/p>\n According to the documents, California prosecutors are seeking to require Dawud Burke, who resides in Hempstead, Texas, to travel to California to testify before a grand jury.<\/p>\n RELATED: <\/b>Los Angeles authorities now believe D4vd \u2018likely had help\u2019 dismembering body of missing teenage girl<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n The petition identifies David Burke or D4vd as the target of the grand jury investigation.<\/p>\n The records state that a grand jury investigation is currently pending in Los Angeles County involving allegations that David Burke \u201cmay be involved in the death of a 14-year-old victim,\u201d identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez.<\/p>\n The documents allege the victim\u2019s \u201cseverely decomposed, dismembered body\u201d was discovered on Sept. 8, 2025, inside the front trunk of a black Tesla Model X.<\/p>\n OUR FIRST REPORT: <\/b>Chopped up, decomposing body found in impounded vehicle registered to Houston singer D4vd<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n According to the filings:<\/b><\/p>\n Tow yard personnel reported a strong odor of decay<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Detectives obtained a search warrant<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n When investigators opened the front storage compartment, the petition states they located a black cadaver bag containing human remains. A second bag allegedly contained additional dismembered body parts.<\/p>\n Court records indicate the Tesla was registered to David Burke at a Hempstead, Texas address.<\/p>\n The petition also describes Burke as \u201ca singer and performing artist\u201d who was allegedly on tour at the time the vehicle was impounded.<\/p>\n Prosecutors argue Dawud Burke\u2019s testimony is \u201cmaterial and necessary\u201d to the investigation.<\/p>\n The documents state Dawud Burke is David Burke\u2019s father and has a close relationship with him.<\/p>\n MORE ON DV4D: <\/b>Texas deputies respond to house connected to D4vd amid body discovery in his Tesla trunk<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n The petition notes the prosecution has agreed to:<\/b><\/p>\n Provide a round-trip airplane ticket<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Provide transportation to and from the airport<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Grant protection from arrest or service of process while traveling to testify<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Attendance was requested beginning Feb. 11 for no more than three days.<\/p>\n However, Burke\u2019s attorneys submitted an application for writ of habeas corpus, arguing the Texas court order compelling him to testify before a California grand jury was unlawful.<\/p>\n In the petition, Burke\u2019s legal team claimed he was denied due process because he did not receive full, unredacted copies of the California certification documents supporting the subpoena request.<\/p>\n Court records show the application was heard in the 506th District Court of Waller County.<\/p>\n Judge Gary W.
