\n The Eagles<\/a> played their first concert without<\/a> Joe Walsh<\/a> in 51 years in January when the guitarist was taken down by the flu. Vince Gill<\/a>, who joined the Eagles in 2017 following the death of Glenn Frey,<\/a> says the band considered all options, including canceling the show that night at the Sphere in Las Vegas, adding some of Gill\u2019s songs to the set, and having him sing Walsh\u2019s hits. They went with the latter decision, and Gill put his own melodic spin on Walsh signatures like \u201cLife\u2019s Been Good\u201d and \u201cIn the City.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n One man, however, wasn\u2019t happy. In a new interview on Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/a><\/em> podcast, Gill says he was being loudly heckled by an unsatisfied fan. \u201cI had one guy over on my right that was just giving me the business. He was so mad that Joe wasn\u2019t there, and he\u2019s taking it out on me,\u201d Gill says.<\/p>\n

\n Even Don Henley, who emerged from behind his drum kit to welcome the audience early in the night, caught flak.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cDon came out to talk for the first time. We had done three songs, and there\u2019s obviously no Joe, and some guy screams, \u2018Where\u2019s Joe?!\u2019\u201d Gill recalls. \u201cDon looked at him and said, \u2018Shut up and I\u2019ll tell you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Eventually, other Eagles fans had enough of the heckler, according to Gill. \u201cFinally, the crowd turned on him,\u201d he says. \u201cA guy in the crowd\u2026grabbed him and said, \u2018If you don\u2019t shut up, I\u2019m going to beat your ass.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The Eagles, with Gill and Walsh, continue their residency at the Sphere<\/a> into April. They\u2019ll also play a series of tour dates in May at stops including New Orleans JazzFest and Vanderbilt University\u2019s FirstBank Stadium in Nashville.<\/p>\n
