The three final spots in the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs were secured &#8212; welcome back to the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"68aba012-4e93-9371-6861-1bb9a63cfb11\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/phi\/philadelphia-flyers\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>, <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"183c31f7-2eed-15c0-7fa1-a568d20bf3ad\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/ana\/anaheim-ducks\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a> and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"47ce4014-1c1f-c67f-bfe6-ec95d5f57a87\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/la\/los-angeles-kings\">Los Angeles Kings<\/a> &#8212; which eliminated the five other teams that were still on the bubble.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan S. Clark and Kristen Shilton analyzed all 16 eliminated teams to identify the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/story\/_\/id\/48475221\/nhl-2026-offseason-schedule-keys-draft-picks-trades-free-agency-cap-space\">keys to each of their offseasons<\/a>, but not quite <em>everything<\/em> is settled on the playoff front yet (or the draft lottery order).<\/p>\n<p>So with that in mind, let&#8217;s roll through the stakes at play in each of Tuesday&#8217;s nine games, which is the season finale for 10 teams.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline editorial float-r\" data-behavior=\"article_related\">\n<h2 class=\"editorial-title\">Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/h2>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776246566_115_bos.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"beb0cb35-4d9f-a5e8-9e7b-d5ca97e51d93\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/nj\/new-jersey-devils\">New Jersey Devils<\/a> at <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"585503ab-1462-2afe-7a70-aafea4f6b1b6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/bos\/boston-bruins\">Boston Bruins<\/a><br \/>7 p.m. ET (ESPN+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With a win, the Bruins will clinch the first wild-card spot in the East, which would draw a first-round matchup against the Sabres. With any other result in this game, they must wait to see what the Senators do on Wednesday against the Maple Leafs; the second wild card will take on the Hurricanes in Round 1. The Devils enter the game 12th in the draft lottery order, one point ahead of the Preds in 11th and three points ahead of the Sharks in 10th. Why is this important? Teams can move up only 10 spots if they win the lottery, meaning New Jersey needs to finish 11th or better to be able to jump all the way to No. 1.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776246566_15_car.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/nyi.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"b7b7b58e-e579-b39d-fb2d-70213dd93502\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/car\/carolina-hurricanes\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> at <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"dab46111-bd72-868c-eff2-340e3cfc4d62\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/nyi\/new-york-islanders\">New York Islanders<\/a><br \/>7 p.m. ET (ESPN+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Carolina&#8217;s shootout loss on Monday gave them enough points to clinch the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, so there isn&#8217;t much on the line for them aside from personal stats and the psychology of finishing out strong. The Isles were eliminated over the weekend, and enter this game 13th in the draft lottery order. A win can drop them as low as 15th, but 13th is as high as they can get.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/mtl.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776246566_287_phi.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"4110452f-e35d-14fe-8fbb-cdb21e269149\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/mtl\/montreal-canadiens\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> at <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"68aba012-4e93-9371-6861-1bb9a63cfb11\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/phi\/philadelphia-flyers\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a><br \/>7 p.m. ET (ESPN+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both of these clubs are playoff-bound, and the points on the line here matter a lot more to one team than the other. Philly is locked in to a matchup with Pittsburgh, and will be the No. 3 seed no matter what happens here. The Canadiens, on the other hand, are tied in standings points with the Lightning in the Atlantic Division, and must be ahead in standings points to earn home-ice advantage in their first-round matchup. As it stands, it will be the final game of the season for <a data-player-guid=\"71847c2f-dbf5-92bd-a95f-3857464ad180\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/3101\/alex-ovechkin\">Alex Ovechkin<\/a>, and as we know, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/story\/_\/id\/48442695\/nhl-2025-26-alex-ovechkin-retirement-goals-final-season-washington-capitals\">his future beyond 2025-26 remains unclear<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ana.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776246567_500_min.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"183c31f7-2eed-15c0-7fa1-a568d20bf3ad\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/ana\/anaheim-ducks\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a> at <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"b024c635-e192-6545-f8c1-b5da0df5ff6c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/min\/minnesota-wild\">Minnesota Wild<\/a><br \/>8 p.m. ET (ESPN+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There was some shakiness toward the end, but the Ducks have made their triumphant return to the Stanley Cup playoffs. With two games left, they can now finish anywhere from first to fourth in the Pacific Division; as the games begin Tuesday, they are third, with 90 points and 25 regulation wins through 80 games. That RW total means that a tie with the Golden Knights or Oilers will go to the other team; they will finish ahead of the Kings in RW, so would win a tie with them. Vegas currently leads the division with 93 points, followed by the Oilers at 91, with the Kings a point behind Anaheim, at 89. Minnesota&#8217;s first-round matchup is secure, as they&#8217;ll be the No. 3 seed in the Central, squaring off with the No. 2-seeded Stars.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/wpg.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776246567_378_utah.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"3fb0986b-350c-b309-1dca-29e401834691\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/wpg\/winnipeg-jets\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a> at <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"f7e8115e-e00b-315d-8018-d2b38e4f420a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/utah\/utah-mammoth\">Utah Mammoth<\/a><br \/>9 p.m. ET (ESPN+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A loss on Monday knocked the Jets out of contention, but they can say they made it to the final week of the season still alive in the race &#8212; which is <em>quite<\/em> the accomplishment given that they were in the league&#8217;s basement earlier this season. They&#8217;re currently eighth in the draft lottery order, and can finish as high as sixth with two more losses. The Mammoth looked like their hold on the first Western wild card was quite secure in recent weeks; now, they are just a point ahead of the Kings (although they do hold a 10-RW lead). Why is this important? The first wild card matches up with the Pacific Division winner, while the second wild card earns a matchup against the mighty Avalanche.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776246567_550_col.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cgy.png&amp;h=110&amp;w=110.png\" width=\"50\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"65489e39-7ab7-70da-94bc-adcc6f0aa1c6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/col\/colorado-avalanche\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a> at <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"1b1346bb-9cad-dd44-4de5-91724595e92b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/cgy\/calgary-flames\">Calgary Flames<\/a><br \/>9 p.m. ET (ESPN+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the Avalanche, they are locked in as the No. 1 overall seed, but are still battling hard to the very end (including a shootout win over the Oilers on Monday night). On the other side, St. Louis is ninth in the draft lottery order, and can move as high as sixth pending the results of other teams. And yes, unfortunately, there is a path to a fifth straight first-round matchup of Kings and Oilers; maybe fifth time is the charm for L.A.? The Kings enter Tuesday one behind the Ducks for the No. 3 position and two behind Edmonton (with a game in hand) for the No. 2 spot. L.A.&#8217;s RW total will not beat any other team in a tiebreak, so they will need to jump over them in standings points outright.
