The <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\" \/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> fell 160 points, or 0.3%, however.<\/p>\n<p>MS NOW reported, citing a Pakistani government official, that the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Friday evening and that U.S.-Iran negotiations are likely to occur. The recent rally in oil prices lost steam following the development. U.S.\u00a0<span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@CL.1\/\">West Texas Intermediate\u00a0futures<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\" \/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> were last trading above $95 per barrel, while international benchmark <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@LCO.1\/\">Brent crude futures<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\" \/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> were trading above $105 a barrel.<\/p>\n<p>This comes on the heels of President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> announcing Thursday that Israel and Lebanon agreed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/23\/trump-israel-lebanon-ceasefire-iran-war.html\">extend their ceasefire<\/a> by three weeks. The announcement followed a meeting at the White House with top U.S. officials, Trump said. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Meeting went very well!&#8221; the president wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116456113408853958\" target=\"_blank\">Truth Social post<\/a>. &#8220;The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah,&#8221; he added, referencing the Iran-backed militia group.<\/p>\n<p>The Middle East conflict has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/23\/iran-war-strait-hormuz-tanker-traffic-oil.html\">evolved into a naval standoff<\/a> over the Strait of Hormuz as the U.S. and Iran have seized commercial ships. Trump said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116454087460626531\" target=\"_blank\">Truth Social post<\/a> on Thursday that he had ordered the U.S. Navy to &#8220;shoot and kill any boat&#8221; that is laying mines in the strait.<\/p>\n<p>Given Thursday&#8217;s reversal from all-time highs for the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq, headlines coming from the Middle East still can sway the market, even as traders attempt to look past the conflict and focus on corporate earnings reports.<\/p>\n<p>The move higher in S&amp;P 500 on Friday was supported by <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-11\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/INTC\/\">Intel<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\" \/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> shares, which soared 24%. The chipmaker posted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/23\/intel-intc-q1-2026-earnings-report.html\">first-quarter earnings<\/a> that beat Wall Street&#8217;s expectations and shared an upbeat forecast for its current quarter.<\/p>\n<p>That adds to the rally semiconductor stocks have seen this week. On Thursday, the <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-13\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/SOXX\/\">iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX)<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\" \/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> posted its 17th positive session in a row and is now pacing to end the week with a 10% gain.<\/p>\n<p>For the three major averages, however, the week is shaping up to be mixed. The S&amp;P 500 is on track to end the period flat, while the Dow is tracking for a 0.6% decline. The Nasdaq has risen 0.6% this week.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron Dawson, chief investment officer at NewEdge Wealth, said she expects the market&#8217;s leadership to remain constricted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This market continues to get narrower and narrower. And once, it was a story of all &#8216;Mag Seven&#8217; doing well. Now it&#8217;s really just a story of semiconductors doing well,&#8221; she said on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/closing-bell-overtime\/\">Closing Bell: Overtime<\/a>&#8221; on Thursday afternoon. &#8220;We are having the most cyclical sector in the world \u2014 being semiconductors \u2014 experiencing super normal growth. The stocks will deliver 100% earnings growth this year.
