The first round of the NBA playoffs continued on Monday with a handful of games. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The night started with the Orlando Magic downing the top-seeded Detroit Pistons to take a commanding 3-1 lead. The Oklahoma City Thunder later finished off a sweep of the Phoenix Suns. Here’s a look at what else unfolded on Monday. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Game 4 between the Pistons and Magic once again did not disappoint as Orlando got one step closer to becoming the seventh No. 8 seed to beat a No. 1 seed. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Before a down-to-the-wire finish, Jamal Cain threw down what very well could be the dunk of the postseason over Detroit’s Jalen Duren. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The two sides went back and forth for much of the fourth quarter, but Orlando held a three-point edge heading into the final minute and a half. Desmond Bane then hit a clutch three to make it a six-point lead for the Magic with just one minute left. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
After Detroit couldn’t respond on the other end, the Magic were able to ice the game at the free-throw line. Orlando’s defense thrived in the clutch, as the Pistons did not make a field goal in the final five minutes of play. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Bane led the way for the Magic with a team-high 22 points. Cade Cunningham had 25 points, nine boards and six assists, but his eight turnovers proved to be costly. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Detroit will need to handle business on Wednesday to avoid a gentleman’s sweep against the No. 8 seed. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The Suns surprised many by even reaching the playoffs in what looked to be a rebuilding year, but they were no match for the defending champs. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
OKC became the first team to advance to the second round with a fairly easy win over Phoenix on Monday. The Thunder jumped out to an early lead and never allowed the Suns to get too close, despite four of Phoenix’s five starters being in double figures. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again led the way for his squad, posting 31 points and eight assists to cap off a phenomenal series. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The Thunder’s frontcourt duo of Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein both collected double-doubles, as Holmgren had 24 points and 12 boards, while Hartenstein added 18 points and 12 rebounds. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The Thunder will continue their quest for another title in the second round against either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Houston Rockets. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Nuggets 125, Timberwolves 113<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The absences of Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo proved to be costly for Minnesota in Game 5. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n After being blown out in Game 4, the Nuggets responded well to a win to make it a 3-2 series after a dominant second half. Denver outscored the Wolves 37-24 in the third quarter and was able to hold off a late run from Minnesota in the fourth. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Nuggets star Nikola Joki\u0107 led the way for his squad behind a 27-point, 16-assist and 12-rebound performance, the kind of game that has become the standard for the three-time MVP. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n His co-star, Jamal Murray, had a solid night with 24 points while Spencer Jones posted 20, stepping up big with Aaron Gordon sidelined. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Julius Randle did his best to keep Minnesota afloat without Edwards, but his 27 points weren’t quite enough. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Timberwolves will look to put the series to rest on Thursday, but that will be a tall task. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The first round of the NBA playoffs continued on Monday with a handful of games.
