I serve at the pleasure of the president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cI serve at the pleasure of the president. I think it is the greatest honor to serve your country in any capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-awdjp1-2 cbpRGD sc-awdjp1-3 image align-center\">\n<figure class=\"sc-1cbdeug-0 cXcwgU\">\n<div class=\"sc-awdjp1-0 qqQbI\"><\/div><figcaption class=\"sc-1cbdeug-1 sc-1cbdeug-3 YlsWU hgzWpY\">Alina Habba was grilled by the co-hosts of &#8216;The View&#8217; during Wednesday&#8217;s episode<span class=\"sc-1cbdeug-7 gjqsiM\"> <!-- -->(<!-- -->ABC<!-- -->)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hostin then jumped in and challenged: \u201cDo you think you\u2019re qualified to be the attorney general?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, before she could answer, moderator Whoopi Goldberg jumped in to interrupt the women and call a time-out for a commercial break. She offered Habba the chance to answer the question before the ads, but she declined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoopi just went to break at the worst possible moment,\u201d one viewer wrote on X. \u201cSunni asked Alina Habba if she thought she was qualified to be AG.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another person reacted: \u201cWhen Sunny asked [Alina Habba] if she thinks she\u2019s qualified to be the Attorney General, I believe ol\u2019gurl\u2019s soul left her body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Someone else wrote, \u201cSunny is not playing with her and the questions yessss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Habba did not immediately return <em>The Independent<\/em>\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>It was not the first time in the episode that Hostin went toe to toe with Habba, who <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/alina-habba-resigns-new-jersey-attorney-court-ruling-b2880449.html\">resigned as the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey in December <\/a>after federal judges determined she was <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/alina-habba-trump-new-jersey-b2875724.html\">unlawfully serving in the position<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hostin pushed back earlier in the show when Habba defended Trump\u2019s Justice Department\u2019s recent indictment against former FBI director James Comey over a<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/james-comey-indictment-legal-reaction-b2967158.html\"> 2025 social media post that showed seashells laid out on the beach<\/a> to display the numbers \u201c86 47.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The picture sparked backlash because \u201c86\u201d is a restaurant term for taking something off the menu, and Trump is the 47th President of the United States, leading MAGA defenders to accuse Comey of calling to oust Trump.<\/p>\n<p>When Hostin asked Habba what she thought 86 meant, Habba responded: \u201cTo kill the president, to get rid of the president. That\u2019s what it means. By the way, his words, not mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hostin then interrupted her to say: \u201cBut the dictionary disagrees with you on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Habba fired back, \u201cWell, he\u2019s the FBI director who knows better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following another heated discussion about immigration at the end of the show, Goldberg said that there was not enough time and suggested that Habba should come back on the show.
