Areas right along Puget Sound stayed a touch cooler thanks to an afternoon sea breeze, but inland spots will see the full extent of the heat.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>Seattle broke an all-time record Sunday reaching 81 degrees \u00a0\u2014 blowing past the previous record of 77 set back in 1992. Olympia topped out at 84 degrees against a record of 82 set back in 1944.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>Cities that broke or tied record high temperatures Sunday:<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<ul>\n<li>SEA Airport: Observed \u2013 81 degrees; Record \u2013 77 degrees (1992)<\/li>\n<li>Olympia: Observed \u2013 85 degrees; Record \u2013 82 degrees (1944)<\/li>\n<li>Bellingham: Observed \u2013 76 degrees; Record \u2013 74 degrees (1992)<\/li>\n<li>Hoquiam: Observed &#8211; 74 degrees; Record &#8211; 73 degrees (1956)<\/li>\n<li>Quillayute: Observed &#8211; 83 degrees; Record &#8211; 83 degrees (1992)<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>The heat begins to back off Monday, although interior areas will remain toasty with highs expected in the 70s to low 80s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>At SEA Airport, Monday&#8217;s high temperature record will likely not be broken. The record high for May 4 is 85 degrees, and Seattle is only forecast to get to 79 degrees.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>Temperatures will gradually cool throughout the week as onshore flow returns.
