The social media post received several responses, triggering further debate about history, freedom of speech, and modern behavior.

In case you have missed it, the conflict was initiated by an individual, ChudTheBuilder, on social media, who expressed racist thoughts and beliefs about the black community. As a result, rapper NLE Choppa made a threat against him on Twitter, saying that he would put the ‘white racist dude in the dirt’ if he came to Memphis, Tennessee. The No Jumper account posted an article on the conflict, accompanied by several photos and quotes from NLE Choppa.

Then Rodgers posted another statement that links modern anger and reaction to the history and explains it through the violent years of Jim Crow laws.

“White People saying blk ppl are violent and sensitive for getting upset over a word,” Rodgers stated. “Was it literally not that long ago white ppl were harming us for drinking from a water fountain???”

The response gathered lots of replies that differed in opinions and addressed multiple topics, such as Emmett Till’s murder in 1955, sundown towns, and the existence of the Ku Klux Klan, to show the reality of the situation and justify why the black community is so angry.

However, others disagreed with such statements, arguing that historical events cannot be used to justify current actions.

“That was a long time ago, and you self-made victims didn’t experience it,” someone replied. “This is about impulse control and freedom of speech.”

Another comment offered a pessimistic perspective regarding race-related issues.

“It doesn’t matter what you do. Their opinions will stay the same. Everything they say Black people should do has already been done. They still hate Black people.”

Finally, some people claimed they would do the same if somebody called them names.

“I genuinely don’t care if I seem violent over that word.
