Check GiantInCinemas.com<\/a> to find a screening near you.<\/p>\n The broadcast will feature a filmed, live performance from the play’s run in London’s West End, with John Lithgow<\/a> starring as children’s book author Roald Dahl<\/a> opposite co-stars Aya Cash<\/a> (The Boys<\/em>) as U.S. publisher Jessie Stone; Elliot Levey<\/a> as Dahl’s jewish publisher, Tom Maschler; and Rachael Stirling<\/a> as Felicity Crosland. All four are currently reprising their performances in the play’s Broadway bow. The film will also feature\u00a0Tessa Bonham Jones as Hallie and Richard Hope as Wally.<\/p>\n The play is currently nominated for four 2026 Tony Awards, including Best Play, Leading Actor for Lithgow, Featured Actress for Cash, and Direction for Nicholas Hytner<\/a>. The London run won three 2025 Olivier Awards, taking Best New Play, Lead Actor for Lithgow, and Supporting Actor for Maschler.<\/p>\n Giant<\/em> is one of two (so far) of this season’s plays that will broadcast live stage films. In 2023, hundreds of words in Dahl’s books were either altered or omitted from future printings in order to remove countless negative references to race, skin color, ethnicity, gender, disabilities, and more.<\/p>\n “In my 53 year, 25-show career on Broadway, I\u2019ve rarely experienced the kind of audience response that we feel night after night with Giant<\/em>,” says Lithgow in a statement. “Mark Rosenblatt has written a play of extraordinary intelligence and humanity, and with every performance I can sense the audience wrestling with its questions in real time. This is the unique power of theatre at its best.
