\n Following its world premiere at SXSW, Boots Riley<\/a> wants to give his surreal arthouse sophomore feature a chance at the box office.<\/p>\n \n The I Love Boosters<\/a><\/em> writer\/director took to social media this weekend to chat with fans and urged \u201ceveryone go see this\u201d on the May 22nd opening weekend in order to get it a proper theatrical run.<\/p>\n \n \u201cHundreds of people put a lot of work into I Love Boosters<\/em>\u2013 we need everyone to see it! In theaters<\/a>\u2013 May 22nd!\u201d Riley wrote on X<\/a> as fans called to get the Neon title shown on their local screens.<\/p>\n \n When one follower asked why their arthouse theater wasn\u2019t showing the movie, Riley responded<\/a>, \u201cIf you call and tell them you and your friends want the movie, they\u2019ll get it. People on here have reported it working out when they did. Theaters are guessing otherwise.\u201d<\/p>\n \n As one fan shared plans for a group birthday outing to the movie next month, Riley urged them to go sooner. \u201cIF YOU WAIT TIL JUNE, ITS GAME OVER FOR I LOVE BOOSTERS<\/em>,\u201d he wrote<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cWE HAVE TO HAVE EVERYONE GO SEE THIS ON THE WEEKEND OF MAY 22ND OR THEY START PULLING IT OFF OF SCREENS.
