If trends continue, it expects a traffic decline of 7% to 8% for the rest of the first quarter of its 2026 financial year.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfohwgmg000a3b6nfw9df4o1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The company said it expects earnings for its first quarter, which began August 1, to be \u201csignificantly below\u201d the prior year due to both lower<strong> <\/strong>traffic and roughly $16 million in investments in advertising and marketing.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoj7klr000q3b6nlfmjvq4n@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Cracker Barrel shares closed down 3.16% on Wednesday and fell 9.58% in after hours trading.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoho1p200003b6nsiavsou8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The old-timey chain had recently scrapped major parts of its turnaround plan after right-wing backlash. It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/08\/26\/business\/cracker-barrel-old-logo\">dropped its minimalist logo<\/a> last month, and then halted restaurant remodels last week.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoif3ws000g3b6nbks1hpd7@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The backlash <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/08\/21\/food\/cracker-barrel-new-logo\">began<\/a> when Cracker Barrel rolled out a new logo that got rid of its \u201cold-timer\u201d figure and the barrel in August. It sent the stock sinking as much as 12% amid backlash stoked by right-wing figures online. Even the president jumped in when the chain reverted back to its old logo.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoivugf000z3b6nnplhms1z@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cAll of your fans very much appreciate it. Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!\u201d Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/08\/26\/business\/cracker-barrel-old-logo\">posted<\/a> on Truth Social.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoj1638000g3b6nleu3tciu@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The company\u2019s earning report released Wednesday doesn\u2019t include the impacts from the logo change saga. For the quarter ending August 1, restaurant same-store sales grew 5.4%, while retail same-store sales fell 0.8%. It was its fifth consecutive quarter of growing same-store restaurant sales, the company said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoj5mso000j3b6nia2g3ott@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Cracker Barrel\u2019s CEO, Julie Masino, said during the earnings call that the company adjusted its investment plan after the logo change backlash.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoj5rfc000n3b6nnsq23e6z@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cWe\u2019re moving ahead with a strong plan to regain traffic and the momentum we had a month ago. Cracker Barrel said it had only completed four remodels out of its 660 total locations by the time it paused the effort.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfohql6d00063b6n34qkpm2w@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cYou\u2019ve shared your voices in recent weeks not just on our logo, but also on our restaurants,\u201d the chain <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CrackerBarrel\/status\/1965424119660323068\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> on X earlier in September. \u201cIf your restaurant hasn\u2019t been remodeled, you don\u2019t need to worry, it won\u2019t be.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoio45j000k3b6n52mvhcha@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Cracker Barrel had wanted to attract new, younger customers to avoid the fate of bankrupt peers Red Lobster, Hooters and TGI Fridays. Its older customer base was visiting Cracker Barrel less often since the pandemic.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfoio45j000n3b6n0vkz3dpo@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Its three-year, $700 million transformation plan through 2027 showed signs of working. The plan included making basic maintenance and repairs to restaurants and improving technology \u2014 as well as 25 to 30 remodels a year.
