In the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, the crew discussed potential games that may appear during the rumored State of Play presentation next week. Co-host Tom Henderson mentioned that a new mainline God of War game is currently in development, which will have Kratos wielding a curved Egyptian sword that\u2019s something along the lines of the scimitar used by the prince in the Prince of Persia series.<\/p>\n
Henderson also believes that the Metroidvania God of War game he had talked about previously is also a good bet as one of the games showcased during the next State of Play presentation. Back when he first brought up the rumor<\/a>, he mentioned hearing \u201ca lot of scuttlebutt\u201d about the project, describing it as a much smaller-scale production than initially expected. Jeff Grubb chimed in with a simple \u201cYeah.\u201d It\u00a0is said to combine elements from God of War and Blasphemous, the latter being a critically acclaimed Metroidvania title recognized for its intricate level design and artistic style. The prequel is claimed to be in Greece, taking place before Kratos becomes a god. His brother, Deimos, is expected to return in this story, making his first proper appearance since God of War: Ghost of Sparta.<\/p>\n As for the unannounced mainline God of War game, Bloomberg\u2019s Jason Schreier recently mentioned<\/a> on the Reset Era forums, \u201cI\u2019ll put it this way: it\u2019s not a new IP but it might feel like one. Maybe that\u2019s why people are confused.\u201d His remarks appear to align with comments made by another user on Reset Era, who claimed to have inside knowledge of the project. The forum member described it as something unexpected, expressing confidence in its potential. \u201cI can\u2019t wait for Santa Monica to announce their game.
