Several charities said on Monday they had cut their links with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/01\/22\/uk\/sarah-ferguson-skin-cancer-diagnosis-intl-hnk\">Sarah Ferguson, Britain\u2019s Duchess of York<\/a>, after media reports that she had described the late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/22\/politics\/kfile-trump-epstein-photos-footage\">sex offender Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> as a \u201csupreme friend\u201d in an email.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfwbf0450005356ne2o5zcb5@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            According to the Sun on Sunday newspaper, Ferguson, 65, the ex-wife of King Charles\u2019 brother, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/04\/04\/uk\/documents-prince-andrew-chinese-spy-intl-latam\">Prince Andrew<\/a>, sent the message to Epstein in 2011, weeks after giving an interview in which she said she would never contact him again.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfwbf4300008356nxq1h5fyj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Epstein had pleaded guilty in 2008 to a state prostitution charge in Florida and agreed to register as a sex offender.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfwbf888000a356n2t73px5q@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The Sun said Ferguson, often known by the nickname \u201cFergie,\u201d had emailed the disgraced financier to apologize for her comments and say he had always been a steadfast friend to her and her family.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmfwbfdky000c356nv0zmqqzg@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Ferguson\u2019s spokesperson declined to comment on the charities\u2019 action, having previously said that she sent the email to Epstein because she wanted to counter the threat that he might sue her for defamation.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" Monday, at least five charities said the duchess could no longer continue as one of their patrons.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" \u201cWe were disturbed to read of Sarah, Duchess of York\u2019s, correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein,\u201d Nadim and Tanya Ednan-Laperouse, the founders of one of the charities, the Natasha Allergy
