Shifting Gears<\/em> is exploring Tim Allen<\/strong>\u2018s character Matt\u2019s personal life as he continues to mourn his ex-wife before going on a date<\/a> with Jenna Elfman<\/strong>\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n

According to the official synopsis, the second season premiere, which airs October 1, follows Matt as he \u201cwrestles with his feelings for\u201d Eve before Charlotte (Nancy Travis<\/strong>) \u201cconvinces him to go to a grief group.\u201d Riley (Kat Dennings<\/strong>), meanwhile, struggles with her own \u201cwill she or won\u2019t she\u201d about her feelings for Gabe (Seann William Scott<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Fans of Home Improvement<\/em> know that Allen\u2019s former costars Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn <\/strong>and Debbe Dunning<\/strong> are making a special guest appearance in the season 2 premiere. While details about their roles have yet to be announced, it has been teased that the trio \u201cshow up to support\u201d Matt in \u201can unexpected way.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next episode, which airs October 8, follows Matt and Eve as they \u201cgo on their first date but<\/a> have different ideas of what it should entail.\u201d As for Riley, she \u201cbefriends the mom of Georgia\u2019s new friend while Carter mediates a tiff between Gabe and Stitch.\u201d Los Angeles Dodger Mookie Betts and Lilly Singh are set to guest star.<\/p>\n

During the season 1 finale, the romance between Riley and Gabe hit a wall when he chose not to make a move following her split from her ex. Instead, Eve and Matt kissed.<\/a><\/p>\n
