{"id":4053,"date":"2025-09-26T08:59:26","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T08:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/?p=4053"},"modified":"2025-09-26T08:59:27","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T08:59:27","slug":"how-erin-dolan-bet-on-herself-with-new-espn-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jubi24.com\/?p=4053","title":{"rendered":"How Erin Dolan bet on herself with new ESPN contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Erin Dolan\u2019s best bet had nothing to do with a sporting event.<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year-old ESPN sports betting analyst bet on herself when she negotiated a multi-year contract renewal with the Worldwide Leader in a personal and professional first, Dolan told The Post in a wide-ranging interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really happy about the deal,\u201d said Dolan, whose contract renewal was announced Sept. 4 by ESPN. \u201cI negotiated that myself, which I was really proud of this time around. I\u2019m really trying to be more business-minded and really just doing it myself. I just think I\u2019m at a point in my career where I really wanted to control myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Erin Dolan covering Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans between the Eagles and the Chiefs.   <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/Erin Dolan<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dolan, who joined ESPN in December of 2021, said she knew exactly what she wanted when it was time to negotiate her contract.<\/p>\n<p>She did not share the exact details of the deal.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI think that is my double-edged sword. I really want what I want, but also, I have to come up with the value to provide the company as well,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cThere\u2019s a mutual understanding [between us] and with any business agreement, they gain a lot from me and I gain a lot from them. It\u2019s great.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut this was really something that I have never done before, in negotiating for myself. So I learned everything. And I really am proud of just the way that it was handled. And, you know, everyone got what they wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Erin Dolan agreed to a multi-year contract renewal with ESPN in 2025.  <span class=\"credit\">ESPN<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As part of her new deal, Dolan will appear regularly across multiple shows, including \u201cESPN BET Live,\u201d \u201cSportsCenter,\u201d \u201cSunday NFL Countdown\u201d and more.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN viewers will see versatility in the segments, according to Dolan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I\u2019ve done a good job at keeping the line of entertainment and fun, while also being professional, and balancing many different hats,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cI feel like on ESPN, I have the opportunity to, let\u2019s say, for example, on \u2018SportsCenter,\u2019 I\u2019m not going to be my crazy fun self as much as I would be on \u2018BET Live,\u2019 and then I\u2019m more buttoned up on \u2018Countdown.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is something that\u2019s so new for everybody that I really had to teach myself, learn to produce and be involved in every single aspect of everything. I definitely come up with my own picks every single, solitary time. No one\u2019s telling you what to say. I don\u2019t use a teleprompter. I don\u2019t have anything to really rely on. Like, I really have it in my head. So that\u2019s something that I\u2019m proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\" \/>\n<p>Dolan said it was hard to build credibility, especially as a woman in the sports betting space \u2014 which is why her DMs are off. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think no matter what, I\u2019ll always have a target [on me] in general,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cI\u2019m in a space that\u2019s more niche than even sports is. When I was first coming up, it was so hard for me. It was really difficult, especially because I\u2019m telling people what to put their money on. So the security side of that is a real thing. I have all my DMs o\ufb00 completely , like I don\u2019t see anything. I usually don\u2019t read anything. Sometimes I\u2019ll see something, but I find it funny at this point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was Week 1 [of the 2025 NFL season], and I posted on social media for the first time in a while, and people were like, \u2018Okay, she\u2019s more into football\u2019 and \u2018welcome back.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s mild compared to the comments Dolan receives about her appearance and body.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Erin Dolan enjoys spending time at the beach, staying caffeinated and Philly sports.  <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/Erin Dolan<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cPeople say, \u2018She used to be thicker\u2019 or \u2018She looks so old\u2019 or \u2018She looked better before this,&#8217;\u201d Dolan said. \u201c\u2026 People just come for your body, and it is just nonstop\u2026 But I find them actually hilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The chirps from strangers haven\u2019t hindered Dolan from being unapologetically herself. No one is saying, \u2018You know what? I love all 32 teams, and that\u2019s why I\u2019m doing this.\u2019 That just doesn\u2019t exist. I think there comes an edge of being from Philadelphia. I came from the suburbs and whatnot, and you\u2019re a loyal, diehard person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hate the Cowboys, but at the same time, I mean, I gave up the Cowboys in the first half because I thought that was right. I\u2019m not going to just be like, \u2018Hey, here\u2019s the Eagles\u2019 picks.\u2019 People know not to expect that for me. They just expect that I\u2019m going to give what I think is going to hit.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\" \/>\n<p>Dolan broke down the challenges and difficulties that come with working inside the betting space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother thing with balancing sports betting that\u2019s really hard is the lines move around 24\/7,\u201d she said. \u201cSo I\u2019m changing the picks or changing the analysis, or \u2018Oh, I don\u2019t like this guy. I have to have this as a backup.\u2019 For example, [during a recent] \u2018Thursday Night Football,\u2019 I had a best bet. Loved it, gave it out. All of a sudden it\u2019s taken o\ufb00 the board. Then, it\u2019s put back up, now it\u2019s a di\ufb00erent number. Now, I don\u2019t like it. So now I gotta pivot. But I also was on a \u2018best bet\u2019 streak. But now, I can\u2019t use that. It\u2019s so all over the place. It\u2019s really hard to make content around betting, which anybody can attest to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Outside of work, Dolan spends as much time as she can at the beach, her happy place, and with her boyfriend, Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm. We\u2019re people that don\u2019t really leave the house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to imagine there was a point when Dolan contemplated \u201cgetting out of the industry\u201d because she wasn\u2019t interested in being a reporter, writer or a host.<\/p>\n<p>Sports betting became legalized in 2018, the same year Dolan graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor\u2019s degree in broadcast journalism, but she was naive to it at the time.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Erin Dolan is dating Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/Erin Dolan<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI actually thought about getting out of the industry right away when I came out of college, because I knew that I didn\u2019t really like those things, but my dad was like, just stick with it for a little bit, see what happens,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cAnd then this opportunity [with ESPN] hit, and obviously, I hit at a very lucky time. I understand my timing was quite impeccable, and the industry, it lined up right away with graduating and then that [sports betting] becoming legal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut again, I didn\u2019t have an awareness of [sports betting] because I was in college. You\u2019re not allowed to talk about that. You don\u2019t hear about that. I was so used to, \u2018This is what you do,\u2019 and \u2018Here\u2019s a camera and here\u2019s Premiere Pro, here\u2019s this and that.\u2019 And like everything I did in college, I did it on my phone. We were told to take the camera out and go film stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to ESPN, Dolan was on-air talent at FanDuel and PointsBet sportsbooks, creating sports betting content across their social channels and various programming.
