\n Two years ago, the indie-rock trio Boygenius<\/a> revealed themselves to be secret fans of Hardy<\/a> in an interview<\/a> with Pitchfork<\/em>. \u201cWe saw Hardy in L.A. recently and I lost brain cells,\u201d Lucy Dacus, who makes up the band<\/a> with Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, said. \u201cThe songwriting is excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n \n During Hardy\u2019s appearance on Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/a><\/em>, we asked the country songwriter if he is aware of Boygenius\u2019 fandom. He is indeed, he says, thanks to his sister, who sent him the original video. He\u2019s since been DM-ing with the band too.<\/p>\n \n \u201cThat was really cool. I was not expecting that at all,\u201d Hardy says. \u201cThe way they described a lot of that was super special and just really cool. Julien was talking about it, that it scratches a weird itch in her brain or whatever, and I love that kind of stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n \n With country collaborations with rock and pop artists reaching new heights, a Hardy-Boygenius collab would be as cool as it gets. \u201cDude, I\u2019m here for it,\u201d Hardy says of the idea.<\/p>\n \n Hardy, who released his new album Country! Country!<\/em> earlier this month, also talked at length about what he\u2019s listening to these days with Nashville Now<\/em>. Top of his list is the melodic metal band Sleep Token<\/a>.<\/p>\n
