Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football\u2019s biggest stage,\u201d the petition read. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgain, George Strait embodies unity, tradition, and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Strait\u2019s discography includes more than 60 top charting hits. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Strait hasn\u2019t hosted a public performance since June 2024. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for iHeartMedia<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Some fans are highlighting the inappropriate lyrics and themes in Bad Bunny\u2019s songs, while others seem frustrated with his preference to perform in his native tongue.<\/p>\n<p>Bad Bunny\u2019s discography, being more modern than the Baby Boomer country legend, is flush with sexually explicit lyrics that would be bleeped out or altered to be more television-friendly during the Super Bowl show.<\/p>\n<p>Strait\u2019s own songs are generally squeaky clean, save for a few soft innuendos. <\/p>\n<p>In his 1984 song \u201cThe Fireman,\u201d Strait sings about cooling down a woman his friend left \u201cburnin\u2019 out of control\u201d by giving her \u201ca little mouth to mouth.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Bad Bunny being named the show\u2019s headliner was controversial after he axed all US concerts in his world tour. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other petitions with anywhere from 1,000 to 11,000 signatures insist that Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Mart\u00ednez Ocasio, be removed altogether without suggesting any alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>Bad Bunny handily addressed the backlash during his SNL monologue during the 51st season\u2019s premiere and told viewers that they <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/05\/entertainment\/bad-bunny-fires-back-at-super-bowl-halftime-backlash-in-snl-monologue-you-have-four-months-to-learn\/\">\u201chave four months to learn\u201d Spanish<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Turning Point USA previously announced that it will be <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/09\/us-news\/turning-point-usa-to-air-its-own-all-american-super-bowl-lx-halftime-show-to-compete-with-nfls-bad-bunny\/\">holding its own halftime show<\/a> in competition with the NFL\u2019s featuring an unspecified collection of performers. <\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Mike Johnson nominated 83-year-old Lee Greenwood to replace Bad Bunny as well. <\/p>\n<p>The 83-year-old country musician agreed that he would <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/09\/entertainment\/lee-greenwood-speaks-out-about-replacing-bad-bunny-for-super-bowl-halftime-show\/\">\u201cmake a great performer for any Super Bowl show,\u201d <\/a>but didn\u2019t explicitly agree with taking Bad Bunny\u2019s spot.\n                        <\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/14\/entertainment\/fans-launch-viral-petition-to-replace-bad-bunny-with-renowned-king-of-country-for-super-bowl-halftime-show\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A petition to replace Grammy Award-winning rapper Bad Bunny with the \u201cKing of Country\u201d George Strait as the Super Bowl halftime show performer is gaining steam online with thousands of fans on board The announcement that Bad Bunny would perform on the NFL\u2019s biggest stage has been met with controversy as many, including the organizer &#8230;
