Lands Between are going to wait a bit longer. FromSoftware announced on Thursday that <em>Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition<\/em> is being delayed from its 2025 release window to sometime next year.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! -->The studio notes that while development on the Nintendo Switch 2 port &#8220;continues wholeheartedly toward release,&#8221; FromSoftware has &#8220;decided to move the launch to 2026 to allow time for performance adjustments,&#8221; according to a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ELDENRING\/status\/1981360180580217143\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">X<\/a> from the Elden Ring account. &#8220;We apologize to players looking forward to the game and thank you for your patience and support.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition<\/em> getting bumped for &#8220;performance adjustments&#8221; isn&#8217;t too surprising. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/elden-ring-tarnished-edition-gamescom-2025-demo-port-fps-drops\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hands-on reports from Gamescom<\/a> in August painted a less-than-stellar picture of the Switch 2 port. It reportedly suffered from frame rate drops and other graphical hiccups when essentially doing anything other than keeping the player character still.<\/p>\n<p>The Nintendo Switch 2 is primed to be a port machine for games that the original Switch couldn&#8217;t handle. It launched with games like <em>Split Fiction<\/em> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/nintendo-switch-2\/604269\/switch-2-cyberpunk-2077-ultimate-edition-best-title\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a>, which ran very well and served as an early indicator of what the Switch 2 is capable of. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/star-war-outlaws-switch-2-impressions-ports\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Star Wars Outlaws<\/em><\/a> landed on Switch 2 last month and is also a great port that holds its own on Nintendo&#8217;s hardware.<\/p>\n<p><em>Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition<\/em> will need some more time baking in the game development oven to get to a similar place as those ports.
