A man was arrested Wednesday evening in San Jose for allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian with his car while driving under the influence, the California Highway Patrol said.<\/p>\n
At about 7:15 p.m., a 57-year-old San Jose resident was driving his Hyundai on the northbound transition ramp from Highway 87 to Interstate 280 when he lost control of his car and struck a man in his 40s who was standing on the right shoulder, CHP Officer Ross Lee said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
According to Lee, the Hyundai driver was allegedly found to be driving under the influence and was arrested.The driver’s name was not immediately released.<\/p>\n
The collision caused the ramp to be closed for about three hours as investigators studied the scene, Lee said.<\/p>\n
