\n Wendy\u2019s is set to close hundreds of locations across the United States as part of its turnaround plan<\/a>.\n <\/p>\n \n Interim CEO Ken Cook announced Friday that a \u201cmid single-digit percentage\u201d of Wendy\u2019s approximately 6,000 US locations could close, which would amount to around 200 to 350 restaurants.\n <\/p>\n \n Affected locations are those that are \u201cconsistently underperforming\u201d and dragging down the chain\u2019s overall performance, Cook told analysts. The closures will begin this year and continue through 2026.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cThese actions will strengthen the system and enable franchisees to invest more capital and resources in their remaining restaurants,\u201d he said. \u201cClosures of underperforming units are expected to boost sales and profitability at nearby locations.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n A specific list of locations wasn\u2019t announced.\n <\/p>\n \n This string of closures comes a year after Wendy\u2019s announced the shuttering of 140 locations<\/a>, citing similar underperformance issues.\n <\/p>\n \n Wendy\u2019s could use a jolt after reporting another downbeat quarter.
