The winning numbers for Wednesday, Sept. 3<\/a>: 3-16-29-61-69 and the Powerball is 22<\/strong><\/p>\n If you are the sole lucky winner that matches all five numbers and the Powerball, you can choose a one-time cash payment of $634.3 million. That’s before federal taxes and possibly state tax, depending on where you live and where you bought the ticket.<\/p>\n Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming don’t impose a state tax on lottery winnings.<\/p>\n No matter how you slice it, a single winner of the Sept. 3 Powerball would likely come away with a lump-sum payout of over $300 million after taxes.<\/p>\n The odds of winning the jackpot in the latest drawing, according to the Powerball website<\/a>, are 1 in 292.2 million.<\/p>\n Not since May 31\u2212 40 of the twice-weekly drawings ago \u2212 has anyone matched all six Powerball numbers. The jackpot is the largest since $1.326 billion was up for grabs in April 2024. The largest Powerball jackpot? More than $2 billion, won in November 2022.<\/p>\n There have been four Powerball jackpot winners in 2025, most recently on May 31<\/a>, when a person in California won the $204.5 million prize.<\/p>\n A lucky player in Oregon had the first jackpot-winning Powerball ticket of 2025, netting $328.5 million on Jan. 18<\/a>. A second jackpot winner matched all six Powerball numbers on March 29<\/a>, winning $527 million. You can do this at a variety of locations, including your local convenience store, gas station, or even grocery store. Additionally, in some states, you can buy Powerball tickets online.<\/p>\n Once you have your ticket, you need to pick six numbers. Five of them will be white balls with numbers from 1 to 69. The red Powerball ranges from 1 to 26. People can also add a \u201cPower Play\u201d for $1, which increases the winning for all non-jackpot prizes.<\/p>\n The \u201cPower Play\u201d multiplier can multiply winnings by: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X.<\/p>\n If you are feeling unlucky or want the computer to do the work for you, the \u201cQuick Pick\u201d option is available, where computer-generated numbers will be printed on a Powerball ticket. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball.<\/p>\n Powerball drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. If no one wins the jackpot, the cash prize will continue to tick up.<\/p>\n Tickets can be purchased in person at gas stations, convenience stores and grocery stores.
