(WKYT) – A section of Interstate 75 is back open.<\/p>\n Northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down late Monday morning at the Kentucky\u2013Tennessee state line due to multiple weather-related crashes, according to Kentucky State Police.<\/p>\n Emergency Management officials say it was caused when snow fell over a section of the interstate and the roadway quickly turned treacherous. It took hours to clear the scene and re open the roadway. <\/p>\n \u201cDue to the nature of the vehicles, some of them being tractor trailers and trucks and a trailer with gravel, it took it a long time for it to be cleared up,\u201d said Jerry Rains, who is the emergency management director for Laurel and Whitley Counties. <\/p>\n Officials say many of the crashes happened near a bridge, which is believed to have iced over before the roadway. <\/p>\n The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said it was near mile point 1.8.
