Pittsburgh: Cold today, snow/rain and an Impact Day tomorrow

Snow begins late tonight and will change to rain by mid-morning Sunday.

GAME THAT WE’VE HAD THIS SEASON FOR PITT, BUT CERTAINLY THEY CAN HANDLE IT. MIAMI FANS, GOOD LUCK. IT’S GOING TO BE A COLD ONE THERE ON THE NORTH SHORE. SIMILAR STORY FOR THE STEELERS AND BILLS TOMORROW AS WELL. IT WILL STAY DRY HERE ON YOUR SATURDAY. BUT AS WE FAST FORWARD INTO YOUR SUNDAY WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS NOW, IT IS AN IMPACT DAY. THERE’S ALSO AN IMPACT DAY FOR TUESDAY, AS WE WILL GET TWO DOSES OF WINTRY WEATHER. BUT TODAY THINGS ARE CALMING DOWN THAT LAKE EFFECT SET UP. MOVING ALONG, WE’RE ALSO PUSHING OUT A LOT OF CLOUDS AS WELL, SOME OF THAT CLEARING STARTING TO INCH CLOSER TO THE TURNPIKE AND CERTAINLY THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH AS WELL AS SKIES ARE A LITTLE BIT MORE WIDE OPEN CLOSER TO WASHINGTON AND MORGANTOWN RIGHT NOW. BUT WE’LL SNEAK IN THAT SUNSHINE AS WE GET CLOSER TO KICKOFF BETWEEN PITT AND MIAMI TODAY. COLD ONE AT NOON WITH A TEMPERATURE ONLY AROUND THE FREEZING MARK, YOU’LL START TO NOTICE A FEW MORE CLOUDS FILTERING IN TOWARDS THE FOURTH QUARTER AS TEMPERATURES CREEP UP INTO THE MID 30S. SO STILL COLD TODAY AS EARLY SUNSHINE WILL GIVE WAY TO MORE CLOUDS. WE’RE GOING TO KEEP THE SNOW AWAY UNTIL AFTER DARK, BUT LATER ON THIS EVENING YOU MAY SEE SOME OF THOSE FLURRIES DANCING AROUND. TOMORROW WE GO TO AN IMPACT DAY. IT’S SNOW TO START. WE’LL SEE SOME RAIN SHOWERS THROUGH ABOUT MIDDAY. THEN IT TURNS BLUSTERY AS WE INCH CLOSER TO STEELERS AND BILLS. GAME TIME AND KICK OFF AT 425 ON SUNDAY. STILL PLENTY OF COLD AIR TO GREET US AS WE HEAD INTO THE MONTH OF DECEMBER. STARTING MONDAY AGAIN, ANOTHER IMPACT DAY ON TUESDAY AS WE COULD SEE SOME OF THAT SNOW STARTING TO STICK. FLAKES WON’T REALLY GET STARTED UNTIL MUCH LATER ON THIS EVENING. TALKING ABOUT EIGHT, EVEN 9:00. AND WHAT SNOW DOES STICK. IT’S NOT GOING TO BE A WHOLE LOT. MAYBE CLOSER TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW UP ALONG I-80. MEANWHILE, AS WE HEAD SOUTH TOWARDS THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH, MAYBE AVERAGING AROUND A HALF INCH, BUT PRETTY QUICKLY THAT SNOW WILL BE TURNING TO SLUSH OR GET COMPLETELY WASHED AWAY AS AGAIN, WE’RE ALSO INTRODUCING RAIN CHANCES FOR YOUR SUNDAY. SO HERE’S FUTURECAST NINE 930. YOU SEE SOME OF THOSE SCATTERED FLAKES STARTING TO SHOW UP IN SPOTS LIKE LAWRENCE, BEAVER, ALLEGHENY, BUTLER, COUNTIES AS WELL. EVEN STARTING TO SPREAD ALONG THE 422 CORRIDOR TOWARDS KITTANNING AND EVEN TOWARDS I-80 IN CLARION AS WELL. SOME OF THE MORE WIDESPREAD SNOW FALLS. WELL, YOU’RE SLEEPING TALKING ABOUT AFTER MIDNIGHT THROUGH WAKE UP TOMORROW. THOSE TEMPERATURES RIGHT AROUND THE FREEZING MARK. SO AGAIN, THAT SNOW WILL WANT TO TRY AND STICK, ESPECIALLY THE FARTHER NORTH YOU ARE TOWARDS I-80. BUT AGAIN, THAT SNOW SHORT LIVED AS EARLY AS LET’S SAY 10 A.M. TOMORROW, TEMPERATURES WILL BE WARM ENOUGH CLOSE TO 40 DEGREES THAT WE START TO INTRODUCE THOSE RAIN DROPS. THEY’RE GOING TO BE SHORT LIVED TO RACING ACROSS WESTERN PA BY ABOUT 1:00. THE BACK EDGE SHOULD BE CLEARING THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS. TEMPERATURES, THOUGH, WILL BE DROPPING INTO THE AFTERNOON. IT’S GOING TO TURN BREEZY AS WELL AS WE GET YOU SET FOR KICKOFF BETWEEN THE STEELERS AND THE BILLS. NOW IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR SOME SNOW, WE WILL GET MORE OF THAT AS WE FAST FORWARD INTO TUESDAY, OUR NEXT IMPACT DAY STORM SYSTEM PASSING TO OUR SOUTH. SO WE’RE GOING TO BE ON THE COLD SIDE. WE GET, FOR THE MOST PART, SNOW CHANCES, BUT WE COULD SEE ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 2IN OF SNOW. BUT STILL, WE’LL CONTINUE TO FINE TUNE THAT ACCUMULATION FORECAST ONCE WE GET OVER TOMORROW’S SYSTEM. THE REST OF YOUR 4-DAY PLUS 4 MORE IS GOING TO FEATURE COLD AIR THROUGH THESE EARLY DAYS OF DECEMBER. ANOTHER DOSE OF FLURRY ACTION WILL COME IN ON THURSDAY. THAT’S A QUICK HITTING SYSTEM, NOT EXPECTING MUCH ACCUMULATION OUT OF THAT ONE. BUT THEN WE DROP OUR TEMPERATURES INTO THE TEENS BY WAKE UP ON FRIDAY. THOSE WINTER COATS AND ALL THE WINTER ACCESSORIES COMING IN HANDY AS WE TAKE A STEP INTO THE EARLY DAY
