Fourteen people were safely evacuated from the chair lift at Sunburst Ski Area after a power outage, according to the Kewaskum Fire Department.The fire department said they were dispatched to chair 1, the most southern chair lift, just after 5:30 p.m. and arrived within ten minutes.The Kewaskum Fire Department and Sunburst workers both safely evacuated everyone on the chair lift in about 40 minutes. Nobody was injured.The fire department said they train with the ski area annually for these types of situations."We want to extend a huge thank you to our team, who train for situations like this, and to the Kewaskum Fire Department for their quick and professional response," Sunburst Ski Hill said in a Facebook post. "We’d also like to thank all of our guests for remaining calm, patient, and safe throughout the process. Your cooperation made a big difference. If power is restored, we plan to open tomorrow at 9:30 AM, with rentals available as well." The fire department said they were dispatched to chair 1, the most southern chair lift, just after 5:30 p.m. and arrived within ten minutes.
The Kewaskum Fire Department and Sunburst workers both safely evacuated everyone on the chair lift in about 40 minutes. Nobody was injured.
The fire department said they train with the ski area annually for these types of situations.
