One of the highlights of the NBL calendar, we will take on the Tasmania JackJumpers under the night sky on Tuesday in another edition of the Bass Strait Battle, powered by Marinus Link.
Coming off a dominant win over the Illawarra Hawks, we will be looking to register a second victory in Round 13 and generate some serious momentum heading into our games away from John Cain Arena.
For the JackJumpers, a loss on Sunday at home to Perth has them sitting with an 8-11 record and very much in the fight for a final spot in the Play In.
WHAT’S THE WORD?
Coming off his first NBL double-double, Tyson Walker touched on the things he’s going to continue to do in hopes of producing another win on Tuesday.
“(I’m) just trying to do all the right things,” Walker said.
“Creating for everybody else, getting two feet in the paint, hunting good shots, getting to the free throw line… staying aggressive.”
Fresh off a home defeat, JackJumpers Head Coach Scott Roth said he’s expecting an intense matchup.
“They’re obviously very very good and they’re in their home building for another week or so before they go on their long road trip for the Australian Open, it should be a good game,” Roth said.
WHO’S HOT, WHO’S NOT
Finn Delany has been in serious form for us across the past few months, leading the team with his consistent scoring and hard-nosed defence.
Delany has scored in double figures in 12 of his past 13 games, and is averaging 18 points and nine rebounds per game across our last three outings.
He will have to face off against Tasmania’s star four man, Josh Bannan, who has been playing some of the best basketball of his NBL career of late.
Bannan is averaging a career-high in points, rebounds and assists, however he had his equal-lowest scoring performance of the season in his only matchup against us (nine points in Round 1).
