Epic Games Store's daily giveaways continue through the rest of the year

The Callisto Protocol, the “we have Dead Space at home” survival horror game, launched in Dec. 2022 (just a month before the Dead Space remake — tough) and was directed by Glen Schofield, creator of Dead Space. As you might expect, it’s very similar. The Callisto Protocol follows a man fighting his way through tight corridors (this time, a prison) against grotesquely monstrous creatures. It received a tepid response, though Polygon’s review stated it was “within striking distance of greatness.”
Typically, we know what game Epic is giving away a week in advance. However, during the holiday season, Epic literally wraps the game in mystery; the thumbnails on the Epic Games Store just show an image of a wrapped holiday present (complete with a bow on top). In 2024, the Epic Games Store gave away more than a dozen games in the two weeks leading into the new year, many of which were terrific, including Dredge, Control, and Sifu.
If you want to pick up the free game from Epic, all you need to do is log in to the Epic Games Store and claim it. The free mystery games are free for 24 hours, and reset each day at 11 a.m. EST, when the next mystery game will be revealed.
