Having secured a huge 3-2 win against Gabon in their second Group F game, Mozambique made the questionable decision to rotate the majority of their best team for the final game against Cameroon.

A win would have seen them finish above their opponents in second, but they were beaten — only just, though.

Mozambique actually took the lead in the first half with Geny Catamo opening the scoring from distance. Cameroon, who didn’t have it all their own way, got back on level terms five minutes later thanks to an own goal from Nene.

The only goal of the second half went the way of the Cameroonians, Christian Kofane heading in superbly from close range.
