‘I understand the frustration’ – Cifuentespublished at 19:40 GMT
Leicester v West Brom (20:00 GMT)
Image source, PA MediaLeicester City boss Marti Cifuentes was slightly cryptic after the 3-1 defeat at Sheffield United on New Year’s Day, saying “there are certain things I can share with the fans and certain things I cannot”.
But he did apologise to the supporters and asked for their backing despite a planned boycott from some Foxes fans tonight.
“What I say to the fans is that I am sorry we are in this difficult moment,” Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester.
“But we need to stay together. I understand they want to show frustration. For us it’s difficult when during the game there is this kind of atmosphere for the players, they can feel it. But I understand the frustration and it’s completely fair.
“I said before against Derby I felt the atmosphere in the stadium was very, very good. The fans really help us.
“Hopefully we can build a good atmosphere again because we need to give the supporters what we couldn’t give them [at Bramall Lane].
“So we need to make sure we start on the front foot, that we correct the things that didn’t work and it’s a very important game for everyone.”
