Ballerina, the John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas, has just landed a new streaming home in the UK. With an action-packed storyline and a familiar face returning, this is a “superb” weekend watch.
The 2025 action film sees de Armas portray Eve Macarro, a ballerina who trains to be an assassin under the wings of the Ruska Roma. Her ultimate plan is to avenge the murder of her father, and she soon starts her quest for revenge.
After being released in cinemas in June, where it grossed over $137 million worldwide, Ballerina is now available to stream in the UK on Prime Video, with the action flick being added to the streamer today (10 January).
In addition to de Armas, the cast for the film includes Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus and Catalina Sandino Moreno, while Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston and the late Lance Reddick all reprise their respective roles from the John Wick franchise.
While not as acclaimed as the main entries in the series, Ballerina was still praised by critics, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting a solid approval rating of 75% from 306 reviews. The audience score is even higher, standing at 92%.

“Equipping a steely Ana de Armas with creatively brutal action choreography and a pleasingly kooky origin story, Ballerina pirouettes gracefully onto the Wickverse’s centrestage,” reads the site’s critical consensus.
In Digital Spy‘s three-star review of the film, we praised the choreography of the “near-constant action” despite having reservations about the quantity of it, adding: “You’ll be wishing there was less of Keanu Reeves’ iconic dog-loving assassin.”
“Eve might not be as impactful of a character as Wick, but Ana de Armas is impressive enough in the role to not need the support. When Eve is wielding a flamethrower like a gun or using grenades in very creative ways, you don’t miss Wick one bit,” we continued.

“Ballerina is superb – a tight two hours of deeply stressful action, with a bodycount that must be in the triple digits before the first half hour is up,” opined The New Statesman in its review.
Ballerina isn’t the only spin-off in the John Wick franchise, with prequel series The Continental being released on Prime Video in 2023. In terms of the big screen, we’re getting a film focusing on Donnie Yen’s Caine and an animated prequel next.
Ballerina is streaming now on Prime Video.
