Tony Romo’s Future At CBS Has Been Decided Ahead Of Bills vs. Broncos

It’s become very apparent over the past few months that NFL fans are tired of Tony Romo. With that said, it sounds like his future with CBS has already been decided.

Romo, a former Pro Bowl quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, has been with CBS since the 2017 season. Initially, fans loved his commentary because he was able to predict offensive plays before they even happened. Now, he’s constantly accused of favoring star quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.

Last Sunday, countless fans called for CBS to fire Romo or demote him from the No. 1 broadcast crew. Judging by the latest report, it sounds like he’s safe for the 2026 season.

According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, there are people at CBS frustrated with all the criticism surrounding Romo.

“It’s much ado about nothing,” a source told McCarthy.

That being said, Romo isn’t a lock to stick around at CBS forever. His contract is set to expire after 2030. It’s possible he pursues other endeavors.

“As for those calling for Romo to be demoted or dumped, here’s a reality check. CBS has a Super Bowl in 2028. Romo’s under contract through 2030. He’s not going anywhere,” McCarthy wrote. “After 2030, who knows? Romo’s a scratch golfer who’s won many celebrity events. At age 50, he might be as likely to try out for the Champions Tour as stay in sports TV.”

Romo addresses his critics.

A few days ago, Romo was asked about his critics while on SiriusXM’s “Schein On Sports.” He refrained from giving them any bulletin-board material.

“Anytime you’re in a position like we are. We’re on the air for three and a half hours. You’re always trying to do the best you can and everything, and there’s always going to be moments where there’s always great stuff. Then other stuff. It’s just part of being in your position,” Romo said. “You just go back to work and you do a great job. That’s the fun part about this – it’s sports, and it makes it fun. We’re just trying to do make everyone enjoy the show, learn a little bit and have a great time.”

Romo will be on the call for this Saturday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos. Hopefully, he has his best performance of the season.
