Clash of the Kingdoms Has Entered Steam Early Access

Independent studio New Horizons has launched its turn-based strategy title, Clash of the Kingdoms, in Early Access on Steam. This opens the doors for players to jump into its first public playtest.

Clash of the Kingdoms delivers a tightly focused tactical experience where every move can decide the outcome of battle. Players command armies made up of distinct unit types on a compact 7×7 grid, with victory achieved by eliminating enemy forces or capturing the opposing base. The small battlefield keeps matches intense and forces players to think several steps ahead. All while balancing offense, defense, and positioning at all times.

Through Early Access, players can experience the core combat system, experiment with key tactical mechanics, and test different strategies across multiple play modes. The current version supports matches against AI opponents, local play, and online battles via Steam. This gives players plenty of ways to sharpen their skills. Just as importantly, New Horizons invites the community to actively shape the game’s future by sharing feedback and suggestions throughout development.

“We are creating Clash of the Kingdoms as a fast yet deep tactical game where strategic thinking truly matters. This playtest is the first step, where we want to see player feedback and suggestions. We want to build our game together with the players,” say the developers at New Horizons.

Each match lasts around 5–10 minutes, making the game well-suited for quick sessions as well as focused competitive play. Looking ahead, the full release aims to expand the experience with improved visuals, additional factions and battlefields, cosmetic titles and frames, a seasonal ranking system, and organized tournaments.
