Former Washington offensive guard Tre Johnson dead at 54 – NBC4 Washington

Former Washington football player Tre Johnson died Sunday morning while on a family trip.

He was just 54 years old.

Johnson played for Washington from 1994 to 2001 as an offensive guard before playing a single season with the Cleveland Browns.

He also played college ball at Temple. Johnson was drafted in the second round in 1994 and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1999.

After retirement, he found his second career passion in education working as a teacher at Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland. Recent health battles forced him to take a leave of absence.

Johnson was also part of the News4 family. His wife, Irene Johnson, worked as a photographer at News4 for 12 years.

He leaves behind Irene and four children: Chloe, EJ, EZ, and Eden.
