The Patriots are signing former Dolphins linebacker K.J. Britt to a one-year contract, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Britt, 26, served as a backup linebacker/core special teamer with the Dolphins last season, playing in 17 games and starting one. He previously played for the Buccaneers, where he started 11 of 14 games in 2024, registering 72 tackles.
Britt joins Robert Spillane, Christian Elliss, Amari Gainer, Marte Mapu, Chad Muma and Otis Reese in the Patriots’ inside linebacker group.Linebacker Jack Gibbens remains a restricted free agent, and the team is set to release Jahlani Tavai when the new league year starts Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Britt, who’s 6-feet, 240 pounds, has 161 career tackles in 76 games with 16 starts. He’s also added four tackles for loss, three QB hits, three pass breakups and .5 sack since entering the league as a fifth-round pick out of Auburn in the 2021 NFL Draft.
