Tennessee starter house
Fresh from her American Idol win, Underwood bought a $384,000 house in Franklin, Tennessee, in 2005. Built in 1998, the stucco and stone dwelling spanned about 3,000 square feet, with three bedrooms, three and a half baths, and a library. In 2011, the “Before He Cheats” singer returned the house to the market for $419,900. She ultimately sold it at a slight loss for $372,500 in 2013.
Nashville villa
In 2007, Underwood picked up an Italian-style villa in Brentwood, Tennessee, for about $1.35 million. Tucked in a guard-gated golf community within the Nashville suburb, the four-bedroom, six-bathroom dwelling sat on a half-acre plot. The three-story abode was situated just off of the golf course’s first box, offering views of the rolling hills and a nearby pond from its Southern-style covered porch. Spanning about 7,000 square feet, it opened with a grand double-height foyer decked out with marble floors, a winding staircase, and a crystal chandelier. Highlights also included numerous fireplaces and wet bars throughout, a cozy eat-in kitchen with detailed wood cabinetry, and an expansive dressing and glam room in the basement, which was accessible by a spiral staircase tucked inside a walk-in closet off of the primary suite’s spacious bathroom.
The musician suffered a fall down some stairs at the property in 2017, requiring a reported 40 to 50 stitches on her face and surgery for a broken wrist. “I just tripped taking my dogs out to do their business. It could happen to anybody,” Underwood explained to Today’s Hoda Kotb.
Shortly after the incident, Underwood and Fisher began looking to move. “They are completely done with the neighborhood. The decision came after her fall,” an anonymous source told People. “They’ve been having a lot of issues with neighbors letting people in the community to look around and it all escalated after the fall.” The country crooner listed the property for $1.45 million in February 2019, and it sold the following month at $1.41 million.
Canadian estate
Underwood and Fisher got married in 2010 and built a custom home on a wooded 11-acre property in Ottawa, which they bought for an undisclosed sum. The gated abode had five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a double-sided fireplace separating the eat-in kitchen and double-height living room, seemingly endless walk-in closets, and an office. The basement was fit for hosting friends or a cozy date night in, with a pool table, a wet bar and kitchenette, a gym, a wine cellar, and a cozy projection area for watching movies by the warmth of a fireplace. Out back, a paved patio provided space for a fire pit lounge area, while an adjacent deck hosted a hot tub. The estate was conveniently close to the rink where Fisher practiced hockey with the Ottawa Senators before he was traded to the Nashville Predators in 2011.
