The 2025-26 UEFA Champions League has its first finalist.

Arsenal reached the showpiece by defeating Atlético Madrid, 1-0, on Tuesday, May 5, sealing a 2-1 aggregate win in their semifinal tie.

Bukayo Saka put home a rebound just before halftime for the game’s only goal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have reached only their second Champions League final and first since 2006, when they fell to Barcelona.

Arsenal has never been crowned European champion. The Gunners did not come close to reaching the final of the European Cup, the precursor to the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta’s side will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich in the final as it looks to clinch its first Champions League title.

With the Gunners now in control of their Premier League destiny, the double is very much in reach for the north London outfit.
