The northbound and southbound lanes are closed as law enforcement investigates.
TAMPA, Fla. — The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is shut down in both directions after a suspicious package was found, according to St. Pete police.
Officials said a person left the package at around 11 a.m. Wednesday before jumping off the bridge. The bomb squad is now investigating out of an abundance of caution.
Southbound traffic is being diverted at 54th Avenue South, and northbound traffic is being diverted at I-75 and I-275, according to state troopers.
