Since taking over for Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak in 2024, Ryan Seacrest has faced criticism for his lengthy introductions, frequent self-promotions, and talking over contestants — and some fans have had enough.
“He babbles on needlessly and it’s getting on people’s nerves,” a source tells Examiner of the TV personality, 50. “The way he’s always getting in a plug for his other shows is nauseating. He’s like a babbling brook that just won’t stop, and fans are griping louder and louder.”
One Reddit user agrees that Seacrest needs to learn that, sometimes, silence is golden. “Intros are so long now, 6-7 minutes sometimes,” wrote a fan on the platform, “and it distracts from the game.”
Another longed for the days of Sajak’s smooth transitions.
Introductions are “definitely longer now, approaching Jeopardy! level of nonsense spewed about each contestant,” shared the second fan. “I just showed my fiancé a Pat episode from 2007 to show him how quick they used to be.”
Adds the source, “Pat made a lot of gaffes towards the end of his tenure, but he knew when to cut it.”
“Ryan just can’t help it,” says the source. “He’s always been this way.”
