Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery, a former Mount Healthy High School standout, threw a second-quarter touchdown pass to Brock Wright during the team’s NFL Week 5 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium.

“Airing it out like he did at Mount Healthy High School!” Fox play-by-play announcer Kevin Kugler said during the broadcast.

Montgomery played quarterback in high school for the Owls. It was his second NFL touchdown pass.

“That’s awesome!” analyst Daryl Johnston added. “So happy for David Montgomery. … one of the good guys.”

Montgomery played his first four NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears.

In 2023, Montgomery reached agreement on a three-year, $18 million deal with the Lions that included $11 million guaranteed.

Montgomery, a third-round pick of the Bears in the 2019 NFL draft, missed four games during the 2021 season with a knee sprain. He was carted off with a leg injury in Sept. 2023.

He had 79 total yards in a 20-17 win against the Bengals in Sept. 2021.
