Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) formerly held the WBA and IBF welterweight world titles. He was upgraded to IBF champion in the aftermath of Terence Crawford’s exit from the division in 2023 and managed two title defenses in 2024, before emerging victorious in a unification matchup with WBA titleholder Eimantas Stanionis this past April in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The Angolan Lima (14-1, 10 KOs), now based in Portugal, suffered his only career defeat when he stepped up to middleweight on short notice to face Aaron McKenna in June 2023. Lima rides a four-fight win streak into Saturday’s contest — and perhaps most impressively, all four fights saw Lima travel to his opponents’ backyards, ripping up three unbeaten records in the process.
Ennis and Lima clash for the WBA super welterweight interim world title, with the winner expected to be in line for a shot at Abass Baraou’s full WBA crown. “Boot” also recently penned a new multi-year deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, where he signed to fight Vergil Ortiz Jr. There is interest from both sides in making that fight in 2026. First, Ortiz Jr. returns Nov. 8 against Erickson Lubin.
