A third defeat int hew first five games of the season wasn’t the only disappointment that came from the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-28 Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday.
Kansas City actually held a two-touchdown lead at one point, only to squander it by the end of the third quarter and find itself trailing 21-14 heading into the final frame.
The Chiefs and Jaguars traded touchdowns and field goals in the fourth quarter, but Jacksonville pulled off the last-minute win after quarterback Trevor Lawrence engineered a seven-play, 60-yard touchdown drive capped off with a 1-yard touchdown run that shouldn’t have been.
Lawrence actually fell down twice after having his foot stepped on by his own offensive lineman. But he had time to get up, scramble to his left, and dive in for the go-ahead touchdown.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones took plenty of heat on social media for the play after he was caught standing around assuming Lawrence was down.
And if the loss wasn’t bad enough, one Chiefs player was actually punished by the NFL on Saturday for his actions during the Jags game, just 24 hours before the Chiefs host the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium.

Receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was slapped with a $12,172 fine for unnecessary roughness (striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing), stemming from his altercation with Jaguars cornerback Jourdan Lewis.
Brown and Lewis had gotten tangled up during a play and continued to shove each other until the whistle. Brown took offense to a possible late push by Lewis, and after the two got in each other’s face, Brown slapped Lewis’ facemask.
The 28-year-old wideout was the only one flagged on the play — a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. Brown finished with four catches for 48 yards in the defeat.
