More than 25 years later, George Strait is returning to Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.
The last concert at the South Carolina venue on Clemson University’s campus was in 1999 and was headlined by Strait. The May 2, 2026, show will also feature Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores. Tickets go on sale Oct. 31.

Over the last several years, Strait has played a handful of stadium dates each spring and summer, most recently with Chris Stapleton. This year, he played five shows, while in 2024 he played 10.
One of the 2024 dates, at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field in College Station, drew the largest single ticketed concert crowd in U.S. history at 110,905. Zach Bryan broke that record earlier this fall when he played Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor and drew 112,408 people.
While this is the only date Strait is announcing, fans are hoping there’s more to come based on Strait’s Instagram post earlier this week. A few days ago, he posted a poster from his Nokia Presents the George Strait Chevy Truck Music Festival, which took place in the late ‘90s, when concert sponsorship was at its height (hence the unwieldy name). That 18-date outing, which included such relative newcomers as Kenny Chesney, The (then-Dixie) Chicks and Tim McGraw did include the 1999 Clemson show, so he may just be doing a fun throwback.
One other date for certain on Strait’s calendar is this December’s Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. Strait will be recognized for his contributions to American culture alongside KISS, Gloria Gaynor, Michael Crawford and Sylvester Stallone. Additionally, the Poteet, Texas, native will also be inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame in early 2026.
