Jesse Eisenberg shares his take on the Louvre heist

Jesse Eisenberg had a few words of praise for the recent Louvre heist thieves. Jimmy Fallon remarked, “There was internet speculation that the real-life Louvre Museum heist was just some kind of promotion for your film.”

The 42-year-old actor nodded his head in affirmation and jokingly admitted that the Louvre heist was a promotional activity for his film. He revealed, “That was very well done.” Jimmy questioned him further and asked his take on the Louvre heist, to which Eisenberg confessed, “When I read about that, I remember feeling like not just a person reading the news. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, they did a good job.’”

Continuing further, he revealed, “You know, like, almost like, with the authority to evaluate. You know how quick they were, which was very impressive.”

Playing along, Eisenberg said, “And then my second thought was even stupider. In the movies, we steal from like the elite villains of the world to give back to the needy. And so when I saw that they stole those diamonds, my first thought was, ‘Oh man, they’re going to give it to somebody really worthy of it.’”

Jimmy Fallon politely corrected the actor by saying, “These aren’t Robin Hood thieves. They are thief thieves.” Eisenberg nodded in agreement. He confessed he has been “brainwashed” by movies where thieves steal from the rich and give it to the poor.

Furthermore, the talk show host couldn’t resist asking Eisenberg if he had discussed the Louvre heist with any of his cast members. Eisenberg replied that he had, revealing one of the cast members might have actually done the deed himself.

Eisenberg added, “We were doing press yesterday and we were all joking around, ‘Yeah, it was us.’ Woody Harrelson came out with a very specific set of tools that he would use to do that.”

“He knows it from the movie?” Fallon asked. “No, he knows it from maybe doing that,” Jesse Eisenberg quipped, making Fallon and the audience laugh.
