The NFL’s trade deadline arrives at 4 p.m. on Nov. 4. That gives the Browns a little under 36 hours to work the phones and see who they could potentially add, or subject, from the roster.
Much of the focus has been on the possible players the Browns could jettison. That’s because of their 2-6 start to the season.
However, there’s been speculation that Cleveland may actually be looking to add players. It did do that with the trade of cornerback Greg Newsome II to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 8, where the Browns received cornerback Tyson Campbell.
Browns trade deadline rumors, news
Here are the latest happenings with Cleveland around the NFL trade deadline.
If the Browns don’t make a deal today, they have these picks in next year’s draft:
Bengals trade Logan Wilson to Cowboys
It’s not the Browns, but the AFC North foe Bengals are making a move. They’ve traded veteran linebacker Logan Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys for a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Browns reportedly looking to buy, not sell, at trade deadline
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Nov. 2 that the Browns are much more “likely to be buyers than sellers” when it comes to the trade deadline. That’s despite their 2-6 record.
Browns have no chance to trade All-Pro DE Myles Garrett
The early portion of the Browns’ Week 9 bye was spent with speculation swirling around All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett, who was visibly frustrated at the end of the Browns’ Week 8 loss at the New England Patriots. Garrett, one may recall, had a public trade demand in February and March. However, it ended with a new four-year contract extension that includes a no-trade clause. The Browns, though, didn’t need that clause to make it clear they have no interest in trading away their superstar defender.
Browns trade deadline options
- JEROME FORD, RB: It’s clear the Browns favor the two rookie running backs — Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson — over Ford, a fourth-year pro. He’s on the final year of his rookie contract the Browns and Ford renegotiated earlier in the year to make it much more team friendly. Ford hasn’t quite shown the same explosiveness he displayed at times over the two seasons when he was essentially Cleveland’s No. 1 running back because of Nick Chubb’s injuries. However, he can be valuable as a kickoff return guy, as well as a potential pass-catching running back.
- SHELBY HARRIS, DT: This one has been mentioned regularly the last several weeks. Second-year DT Mike Hall Jr. returned from offseason knee surgery right before the bye week. If the Browns feel confident coming out of the bye that Hall can handle the snaps, they may look to move someone. If he does get to that point, Harris would almost assuredly be the kind of player who could help a contender out over the stretch run.
- DAVID NJOKU, TE:: Njoku’s name was a popular one ahead of the bye week. However, it appears to have cooled off a bit the closer to the deadline things get. Through seven games, Njoku has 27 catches for 260 yard and two touchdowns. In his last three games he’s had 13 catches for 132 yards and two TDs. Could a contender find a way to tap into the talent that has teased Cleveland since 2017?
- ALEX WRIGHT, DE: Like Ford, Wright is a player on the final year of his rookie contract who could be an intriguing piece to aid a contender’s pass rush. Although Wright has started the last three games, it’s been noticeable since training camp that Isaiah McGuire has become the favored player between the two young defensive ends. McGuire also has another year left on his rookie deal. Wright has played well when he’s been on the field, so it’s not like there isn’t value in the asset. The final year of his deal is what’s likely to make him the one who’s on the market.
