Candace Cameron Bure has gone through many “seasons” in her life, many of which have tested her and Valeri Bure’s marriage.
“There are days I wrestle with brokenness. I have experienced that,” Cameron Bure, 49, exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, November 4, while promoting her new book, Rise and Renew: A 30-Day Devotional to Heal a Hurting Heart, Overcome Emotional Pain, and Grow in Your Faith – Interactive Devotions with Bible … and Creative Exercises (One Step Closer). “I mean, we all do. I don’t know that it’s [something] I feel daily, but there have been seasons of that in my life.”
The Full House alum noted there have been “so many” difficult seasons in her life, but with Bure, 51, by her side, she has been able to weather them.
“I think that there’s always been a struggle with work and family life balance. I think so many women experience that,” Cameron Bure explained of her personal ups and downs.
The actress revealed that while she and Bure have an “incredible, wonderful” relationship, after 29 years of marriage they have also had “valleys of real struggle,” which in time they built “back up.”
“There were times of deep brokenness that I felt. But God is in the restoration business,” Cameron Bure explained, noting that she talks about her relationship, family and faith journey in her new book. “[God] loves to restore and make all things new, and he certainly has.”
Cameron Bure previously revealed on her “Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” in July that she and Bure went through a “rough season,” before their eldest son, Lev, 25, guided them back to each other.
“I’ll never forget, ‘cause he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says,’” the Timeless Tidings of Joy actress recalled.
Cameron Bure, who also shares daughter Natasha, 27, and son Maksim, 23, with the retired NHL player, told Us on Tuesday that her “vow and commitment” to Bure “was always there even though we got to a breaking point.”
Once she and Bure acknowledged “we don’t actually want” to be in a bad place as a couple, they started to work on repairing the fractures in their marriage.
“Sometimes within relationships, we have to break it down, like, into just what seems like so many broken pieces, but then when you put them all together, you really can build it even better,” Cameron Bure shared.
Luckily, for Cameron Bure and her husband, whom she wed in 1996, their efforts to fix their relationship have been successful.
“I’m more in love with my husband today than when we met. He is truly my best friend,” she gushed. “We’re in a different season of life because our kids are grown. We have two that are married, and you have to find your relationship again when the kids get older. And so we’re in this great season of life.”

Cameron Bure told Us that her ups and downs in marriage were part of the inspiration behind her new book, Rise and Renew, which goes on sale this month.
“I actually wrote it during the pandemic. … That really was the time where we were all going through a lot,” the Home Sweet Christmas star explained. “There were hardships, not just because of covid and being on lockdown and all of that, but just differences in my family life, even within my marriage.”

She recalled, “I needed to really reflect on what was true and right and not let my thoughts spin. And so that’s where the book really came from.”
Cameron Bure revealed that the book is formatted as a 30-day devotional asking the reader to “spend really five minutes, 10 minutes in the word.”

“It’s filled with scripture from the Bible, and I write some personal reflections,” she continued. “It’s just to remind women, when they read it, that there is hope to be had, because our circumstances in life [don’t] always go the way that we want it to.”
Cameron Bure said, “Getting up every single morning, renewing our mind with who God says we are, and being reminded of who he is, can just change our day and make a huge difference.”
When reading the book, Cameron Bure hopes people take their “captive” thoughts and give them to God.
