In the most recent projection, the Aggies were ranked No. 3 by the selection committee Tuesday evening. A&M trailed only No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana, making the Aggies, once again, the highest-ranked team in the Southeastern Conference.

In this week’s fictional bracket, A&M would get a first-round bye and then face either Texas Tech or Miami in the second round.

A&M  (9-0, 6-0) returns to Kyle Field to take on South Carolina (3-6, 1-6) Saturday after a three-game road stretch. In Week 11, the Aggies handled Missouri 38-17.

The Aggies have three games remaining on their schedule, starting with the Gamecocks. A&M then hosts Samford in Week 13. The Aggies finish the regular season in Austin, facing the Texas Longhorns.

In the 12-team format, the five highest-ranked conference champions earn automatic bids. Then the next seven highest-ranked teams are included. A Group of Five program will be at least one of those selections.

As of 2025, those ranked Nos. 1-4 will get a first-round bye. In 2024, the first year of the 12-team CFP, the four highest-ranked conference champions received a first-round bye, regardless of their overall ranking.

Seeds No. 5-12 will compete in the first round. The higher-seeded teams will host those games.
